AI upskilling: The future of work in the age of AI
The AI Adoption Initiative and Carnegie Mellon University held a two-day workshop in Pittsburgh, AI upskilling: The future of work in the age of AI. The workshop convened policymakers, researchers, educators, workforce practitioners, and industry leaders to explore how governments, organizations, and educational institutions can prepare the workforce for the AI economy.
The workshop’s discussions centred around the AI Adoption Initiative and Carnegie Mellon University’s pre-read policy paper, The AI Labor Stack: Rethinking the Workforce from the ground up. The paper introduced three layers of the AI labor stack: the innovators who build the infrastructure, the facilitators who deploy and integrate the technology, and the users whose jobs will ultimately be changed by applying AI.
